Chapter 7

At this point Gatsby stops having parties because he is distracted from the party scene in his attempt to lure Daisy back to him.
Gatsby decides to fire his staff because he is scared that someone is going to spread rumors about Daisy being at his house. The new servants are more secretive though they can be disobedient. Wolfsheim knows people who will keep quiet, this makes him even more intimidating.
Daisy reacts with fake love towards her daughter Pammy as she enters the room and Gatsby is quite shocked that Daisy did all of this in her time without him.
The outing in New York was when Tom, Jordan, Gatsby, Nick, and Daisy all head to the city but stop to get gasoline and runs into his mistresses husband. Then Tom gets angry at the thought of losing his mistress and his wife...With the fear of this thought becoming real he confronted Gatsby upon the arrival to the city. I would say that Tom won and Gatsby lost because in the end Gatsby did not get to play out the fantasy that has been going on in his head.
On their way back to long island they discover a body on the road and it is Myrtle (Toms mistress). Once Nick realizes that it was daisy and Gatsby who ran over myrtle and sped off. When Nick talks to Gatsby about the incident he admits that Gatsby was planning to take the blame for it.
Though Gatsby is planning to do this for Daisy she is sitting down with her husband (who was guilty of cheating on her with Myrtle whom Daisy had just ran over) and they are eating. After the just killed someone they are eating and reconciling with one another
Gatsby was expecting Daisy to confess her love for him but she doesn't instead she looks to Tom.
